The Opportunity:
Visy began manufacturing corrugated cardboard boxes in Melbourne, Australia, in 1948 and has grown to become one of the world's leading privately owned packaging, paper and recycling companies.
Are you a proactive leader with a passion for safety and operational excellence? As a Shift Manager, you'll be responsible for the safety, productivity, and quality of our operations during your shift. You'll lead your team to meet budget expectations, drive cost reduction programs, and maintain strong customer relationships. Your role will involve generating action plans, supporting your team, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely turnaround.
- Ensure adherence to start up and in process quality checks.
- Track and manage Production Open Hour Targets and delivery performance.
- Conduct daily waste reviews to enhance efficiency.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with OHS&E legal requirements and corporate safety codes.
- Conduct Toolbox Meetings and housekeeping inspections.
- Maintain operational wages and overtime within budget.
- Track and manage production targets to assist with cost control.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to your team to achieve budgeted results.
- Coach and mentor supervisors and potential leaders.
- Manage and review the performance of direct reports, addressing employee relations issues.
What you will bring to the team:
- Experience managing a team in a process manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to train and mentor others.
- Experience managing employee performance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, SAP and Kronos is desirable.
- Maintain and uphold OHS&E policies and procedures.
